cures for tinnitus

Dealing with ringing in your ears (tinnitus)can make you feel like a monster.

It can interfere with your sleep, interupt your thoughts, and make you feel isolated.

Whether you experience the ringing, buzzing, and  whistling of tinnitus intermittantly or all the time, you probably long for the bliss and peace of silence.

So how do you treat it?  Are there any cures for tinnitus?

The answer to this is tricky.   Tinnitus is usually caused by hearing damage from prolonged exposure to loud noises.  It is estimated that 1 of 3 people suffer from some degree of ringing of the ears.

There are plenty of "cures" available in the marketplace for tinnitus, but do any of them work?

One of the effective ways to mask tinnitus is to use "white noise therapy".  You can use a fan, or a noise machine to mask the sounds ot tinnitus.  This is especially effective at night.

If you want to reduce or eliminate tinnitus, some lifestyle changes can help.  Avoiding caffeine works well for many people.  As does using zinc and melatonin supplements.

Ultimately, if you are suffering from tinnitus, you should check with your doctor to be sure there is not a more serious underlying condition.
