Experiencing ringing in your ears (tinnitus) can be a frustrating experience. It can feel like you will never get relief, and doctors don’t often have effective treatments.

A ringing in ears symptom may range from annoying, but managable background noise to life altering ringing that causes you to not be able to sleep.

Whether the ringing you are experiencing is mild or severe, you need to know that you are not alone and that there is help out there for you.

Some of the symptoms that are associated with this condition are hearing buzzing, pulsing, or whistling sounds, and can seem louder as the noise around you gets louder.   At this time there is no conclusive test for tinnitus.  It is diagnosed almost completely bases on the symptoms you have.

If this condition is driving you crazy… here are a few tips that should help.

#1.  If you find that you can’t sleep, because the ringing is keeping you awake, many people find that sleeping with a fan or a noise machine is helpful.  This creates a background noise, and can mask the sound of the tinnitus.

#2.  Use ear protection to keep it from getting worse.  Modern life can be LOUD, and exposure to loud noise is the primary cause of ear ringing.  Because of this wearing earplugs or noise shielding earphones can help to keep it from getting worse.

If you have ringing in your ears it is easy to feel frustrated and isolated as you battle for blissful and peaceful silence.
